ARTISSIMA 2024
François Durel (solo booth)
31 October – 3 November 2024. | OVAL Lingotto, Turin. | booth red-10
Durel’s work explores the dynamics between public and private spaces, involving questions of sociology, psychology, and gender politics. His work questions the way in which identity, especially sexual identity, is constructed or is, on the contrary, constrained by society and its physical spaces. The Paris based artist strips found objects of their practical, ostensible purpose to expose sediments of time and lived history that have accumulated within them. His repeated use of certain materials like leather and metal underlies the artist’s obsession with their implications on the sexual, architectural and psychoanalytical reading of society.
